Field Operator

About This Role

Monitor and operate oil and gas wells and associated surface equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operations. This role involves gauging tanks, inspecting equipment, and maintaining accurate logs for production.

Responsibilities

• Gauge and record tanks and gas meters
• Open and close valves and tank hatches
• Inspect equipment for safety problems, leaks, or wear and tear, and make or recommend appropriate repairs
• Procure necessary materials and supplies to complete daily tasks
• Read automatic gauges to determine flow rate of oil into or out of tanks
• Operate pumps and mobile telephone/radio
• Retrieve and perform required tests for quality and integrity on product samples
• Maintain logs of meter readings, test results, and adjustments made
• Complete Daily Production Sheets, 8-Day Gauge Reports, and other daily records
• Implement the company’s Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures Plan (SPCC) as needed
• Tighten connections with wrenches, and grease and oil valves
• Inspect pipelines, valves, and flanges to detect malfunctions
• Start pumps and open valves to regulate flow of oil into and out of tanks
• Shut down equipment following supervisor’s instructions in case of an emergency
• Monitor alarms and respond to alarms/pages 24 hours per day

Requirements

• Four (4) years minimum oilfield experience
• Ability to work assigned work schedule 10/4 8hr schedule
• Reside within a 50-mile radius of the production area to respond to callout alarms
• Basic mathematic and mechanical skills
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Ability to consider safety in all decisions

Qualifications

• Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent or any equivalent combination of education and experience
• 4 years minimum oilfield experience

Nice to Have

• Hilcorp contract experience
• Ability to operate a boat (if applicable)
