Conduct regulatory compliance field inspections related to Environmental, Water Use, and Well Construction permitting to protect Florida's water resources and minimize flood risks.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine compliance investigations relating to Environmental Resource Permitting, including construction, as-built, and re-certification inspections
- Review approved plans and/or as-built drawings to verify construction is in accordance with approved design
- Conduct site inspections to document environmental features, note operation of related structures, and verify dimensions of water management infrastructure
- Inspect project sites to observe mitigation planting, water level, vegetative recruitment, and maintenance
- Conduct routine compliance investigations relating to Water Use Permitting, observing and documenting on-site activity and recording data
- Conduct or assist with field and office work relating to Well Construction Permitting, including observing grouting/abandonment operations and random well inspections
- Investigate well-construction related complaints and inspect public supply well sites for potential contamination sources
- Conduct or assist with compliance investigations of water-resource related complaints, reviewing inquiries and conducting site inspections
- Answer questions from the public related to permitting and compliance matters and assist applicants with permit applications
- Perform duties as assigned before, during, and after major storm events and emergency situations as part of the District's emergency management role
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent and four (4) years' related work experience in maintenance, construction, land-survey, and/or technical field OR Associates' degree and two (2) years' related work experience in maintenance, construction, land-survey, and/or technical field work
- Valid Driver's License
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent or Associate's degree
- 4 years' related work experience in maintenance, construction, land-survey, and/or technical field with a high school diploma, or 2 years with an Associate's degree
