Teach and mentor students in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and related fields for Austin Community College. This role involves developing and delivering coursework to prepare students for careers in cloud computing, network security, and database systems, contributing to student success and community development.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and teach courses in Cybersecurity to a multicultural student population based on approved course learning outcomes, utilizing varied instructional strategies
- Participate actively in departmental responsibilities and governance, including curriculum review, program review, and assessment of student learning outcomes
- Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback reflecting program learning outcomes and departmental expectations
- Serve as a mentor to students in the Cybersecurity program
- Provide teaching and mentoring services without discrimination based on protected characteristics
- Remain current in the field through professional development activities
- Support division and department goals through active and collegial engagement in decision-making and unit-level planning
- Serve on collegewide and departmental committees, councils, work groups, and task forces
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the department chair, dean, and/or associate vice chancellor, vice chancellor, executive vice chancellor
Requirements
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Information Technology, Computer or Software Engineering; or Computer-based Information Systems or Network Security; or Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in these disciplines
- Three years of non-teaching, industry-related work experience specifically related to cybersecurity, networking, or cloud computing
- Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications, online resources, and other technologies for the classroom
- Demonstrated proficiency using an online learning management system such as Blackboard
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Information Technology, Computer or Software Engineering; or Computer-based Information Systems (e.g., management, decision, data-processing) or Network Security; or Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in these disciplines
- Three years of non-teaching, industry-related work experience specifically related to cybersecurity, networking, or cloud computing
