The Fabrication Technician is responsible for performing pressure vessel repairs, general boiler repair, welding, and pipe fitting, as well as maintaining rental boilers and related accessories. This role involves fabricating skids and collaborating with internal and external parties.
Responsibilities
- Perform pressure vessel repairs and general repair of boilers
- Execute welding, pipe fitting, and other skid buildout processes
- Keep the scheduler informed of daily work progress
- Maintain clean and organized work areas and equipment
- Attend trainings for boiler pressure vessel welders as scheduled
- Understand requirements of ASME Code repairs
- Attend all required bi-monthly safety meetings and training
- Open and inspect boilers, understanding their design and construction
- Clean fire and watersides, install new gaskets, and perform refractory repairs and replacement
- Read and understand mechanical drawings and make equipment modifications per drawings
- Pipe fit to ASME, state, and local codes
- Evaluate basic boiler room systems (steam and hydronic), gather information, and solve problems
- Complete work orders, required forms, summaries, and checklists daily
Requirements
- One year of related industry experience
- Welding experience
- Pipefitting experience
- Ability to work extended hours including nights and weekends
- Understanding of ASME Code repairs
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work in a team atmosphere
- Capable of reading and understanding mechanical drawings
- Capable of pipe fitting to ASME, state, and local codes
- Strong language and industry-specific vocabulary skills
- Basic mathematics, algebra, and formula knowledge
- Strong reasoning and problem solving skills
- Insurable with no major infractions on driver's license
- Ability to provide some ASME boiler code application support
- Strong attention to detail for paperwork
