Fabrication

About This Role

Perform fabrication tasks including rolling, braking, drilling, and cutting metal parts according to standard work documents. Ensure safe operation, quality product, and consistent delivery.

Responsibilities

• Operate plate roll, press brake, saw, drill press, or work as an iron worker
• Use various tools such as cutting torches, hand tools, drills, angle grinder, punches, tape measures, scrapers, saw, drill press or other types of finishing tools to ensure quality product
• Safely operate related equipment including forklifts, hoists, slings and bandsaw
• Inspect parts for defects and check measurements to ensure compliance
• Read, understand and follow job order specifications, blueprints, work instructions and procedures
• Inspect and inventory all parts before starting job
• Notify shop foreman of any problems with parts or discrepancies with drawings
• Responsible for insulating various jobs
• Notify quality when job is complete to be inspected before moving onto the next process
• Tag with part number and job number then stage parts when job is completed and signed off on by quality
• Keeps work area clean, neat and orderly to ensure a safe and efficient workplace
• Operate equipment safely and use safe work habits while preforming the job function

Requirements

• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Continual use of hands, considerable use of arms and legs, and moving whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling materials
• Ability to lift and maneuver 50 lbs. without physical restrictions
• Ability to wear appropriate PPE at all times such as safety glasses, face shield, hearing protection, gloves and safety toe boots
• Ability to work in hot and cold environments during summer and winter months
• Dependability and references and good work history

Qualifications

• High School/GED diploma preferred
• 1-2 years of experience in a welding production plant with fabrication preferred

Nice to Have

• 1-2 years of experience in a welding production plant with fabrication
• High School/GED diploma
• Fabrication technical training
• Ability to read blueprints, layout parts to print, process fabrication methods to print
• Ability to understand and follow standard work practices
• Knowledge of shop hazards and safety rules and procedures
