Executive Inland Marine Underwriting Specialist

About This Role

This role involves underwriting a diverse portfolio of inland marine insurance, focusing on Builder's Risk, Contractor's Equipment, and Cargo. The specialist will partner with agents, brokers, risk engineers, and claims to evaluate complex, high-value placements and manage a profitable book of business.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and underwrite inland marine insurance policies for builders' risk, contractors' equipment, and cargo coverage
• Utilize expertise to assess complex and non-standard risks, providing accurate and competitive quotes
• Develop and manage a profitable book of business by balancing premium growth and loss control
• Monitor portfolio performance, identify trends, and adjust underwriting strategies
• Collaborate with underwriters, actuaries, and product development teams to design and refine inland marine insurance products
• Ensure all underwriting activities comply with company guidelines and regulatory requirements
• Stay informed about changes in regulations and market conditions affecting inland marine insurance

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in inland marine underwriting
• Strong territory management skills
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, or a related field is preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in inland marine underwriting
