About This Role

Provide executive assistance and support to the General Counsel, managing projects, researching issues, and coordinating meetings to ensure efficient operation of the Sheriff's Department.

Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility for all projects assigned by the General Counsel, including developing work plans and timetables.
  • Research correctional issues and prepare reports as directed by General Counsel.
  • Advise the General Counsel on pertinent issues as they arise.
  • Coordinate the General Counsel’s monthly meeting and assist with related agenda matters.
  • Represent the General Counsel’s Office at hearings, medical review panels, and labor relations meetings as required.
  • Assist the General Counsel by coordinating staff in the preparation of reports and ensuring deadlines are met.

Requirements

  • Ability to supervise and manage employees and various tasks
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Considerable knowledge of County, City and State governments, as well as law enforcement issues pertaining to the Sheriff's Department
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the principles, methods and practices of criminal justice planning, including program, policy, procedure and systems development and analysis
  • Bachelor's Degree with major in public policy or government
