Inspire the next generation of engineers by delivering high-quality teaching across various engineering programs and supporting learners in achieving their goals. This role involves developing curriculum that aligns with industry needs.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, high‑quality teaching across engineering disciplines including mechanical engineering, manufacturing, fabrication and welding, and machining
- Prepare course materials and contribute to programme development and evaluation
- Support learners through tutorials, guidance and welfare-related discussions
- Carry out assessment, marking, verification and associated administrative tasks
- Work closely with colleagues, parents, employers and external partners to support learners’ progress
- Take part in marketing activities, employer visits and wider College events
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to reports, registers and data returns
- Embrace continuous professional development to keep your skills and knowledge up‑to‑date
- Promote equality, diversity and safeguarding in all aspects of your work
Requirements
- Strong subject knowledge in engineering (e.g., mechanical, manufacturing, fabrication/welding, machining)
- Relevant engineering qualification at Level 3 or above
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to motivate and support learners with professionalism and integrity
- GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4+) or willingness to work towards them
- A teaching qualification, or willingness to achieve one within an agreed timeframe
- Commitment to safeguarding, equality and diversity
Qualifications
- Relevant engineering qualification at Level 3 or above
Nice to Have
- Time‑served engineer with a strong industry background
- Experience teaching or training in FE or a professional environment
- Assessor/Verifier awards (A1/V1) or willingness to work towards them
- NVQ Level 3+ or subject-specialist qualification at Level 4+
- Ability to analyse and interpret data to support learner progress
