Engineering Detailer / Draftsperson

About This Role

This mid-level engineering staff position in Watertown, Wisconsin involves detailing and drafting structural steel components for large construction projects. The role requires collaboration with multiple teams and offers growth potential into estimating and project management.

Responsibilities

• Detail and draft structural steel components (beams, columns, connections, floor plate, cross bracing, anchor bolts) for large construction projects
• Take direction from internal and external project managers and engineers
• Perform estimating and new product development
• Provide customer service and design for manufacturability
• Collaborate with engineering, sales, marketing, accounting, and manufacturing teams
• Provide drawings to the factory for fabrication and final construction drawings to customers
• Support the business development team with technical assistance in-house and in the field

Requirements

• Post-secondary degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, or Mechanical Design
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal
• Experience focused in the fabrication of Structural Steel and Construction

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, or Mechanical Design
• At least 5 years of experience, with a focus on structural steel fabrication and construction

• Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD Inventor Suite
• Advanced knowledge of Tekla
• Advanced knowledge of Advanced Steel
• Advanced knowledge of RISA
• Advanced knowledge of Revit
