Manage environmental regulations and energy conservation efforts within a manufacturing setting. You will develop and implement strategies to ensure compliance, optimize energy usage, and drive sustainability initiatives to minimize environmental impact while maximizing operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental laws, regulations, and permits, including air emissions, wastewater management, hazardous waste disposal, and other aspects specific to the manufacturing industry.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive environmental and energy management strategy aligned with the organization’s sustainability goals, promoting resource conservation, waste reduction, and pollution prevention.
- Identify energy-saving opportunities, monitor energy consumption, and implement initiatives to optimize energy efficiency throughout manufacturing processes.
- Conduct regular assessments and audits to identify potential environmental risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Prepare and submit accurate and timely environmental reports to regulatory agencies, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration with internal stakeholders to promote environmental awareness and engagement.
- Stay up to date with changes in environmental regulations, guidelines, and best practices relevant to the manufacturing industry.
- Develop, manage, and forecast the plant site’s energy and environmental budgets, including utilities, waste disposal, emissions compliance, sustainability initiatives, and capital improvement projects.
- Proactively seek opportunities to enhance environmental performance, energy efficiency, and sustainability initiatives through continuous improvement projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field
- Proven experience in environmental management, energy conservation, or sustainability roles within the manufacturing industry
- Thorough knowledge of environmental regulations, permits, and compliance requirements relevant to manufacturing operations (Title V air permits, SPCC, SWPPP, etc.)
- Strong understanding of energy management principles, energy-efficient technologies, and best practices in the manufacturing industry
- Experience in conducting environmental audits, risk assessments, and managing environmental reporting and permitting processes
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong project management abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in using environmental management systems, data management tools, and Microsoft Office applications
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field
- Proven experience in environmental management, energy conservation, or sustainability roles within the manufacturing industry.
