About This Role

Vers Beton is seeking an editor to guide writers from pitch to publication, ensuring journalistic quality and adhering to the publication's tone of voice. This role involves editing articles, managing editorial planning, and contributing to content strategy for an independent journalism platform focused on Rotterdam.

Responsibilities

• Guide editors from initial pitch to publication, acting as a sounding board and critical reviewer.
• Edit articles and newsletters for readability, grammatical correctness, and adherence to Vers Beton's tone of voice.
• Monitor the journalistic quality of articles.
• Oversee editorial planning.
• Publish articles using the CMS.
• Write social media texts to promote articles.
• Collaborate on article ideas and assign them to writers.
• Actively contribute to Vers Beton's content strategy.
• Supervise the editorial intern in collaboration with the editor-in-chief.
• Work closely with the editor-in-chief and social media editor as part of the core team.

Requirements

• Passion for Rotterdam and independent journalism
• Excellent language skills
• Experience as an editor
• Understanding of Vers Beton's mission and current developments in Rotterdam

Qualifications

• Experience as an editor is required, with a preference for experience in investigative journalism.
