About This Role

An Educational Aide provides essential support in a classroom setting, assisting students with diverse educational, behavioral, communication, health, and hygiene needs. This role is crucial for ensuring student safety and welfare while implementing individualized programs and providing physical assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously monitor students to ensure their safety and welfare
  • Assist in implementing educational programs and structured activities as directed
  • Collect data on student programs and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Provide physical assistance to students for daily functioning activities including toileting, eating, dressing, mobility, and hygiene
  • Assist students in the pool area
  • Implement behavior support strategies, including observation, data collection, and direct intervention
  • Load and unload students safely onto and off of the bus
  • Assure that safety and health standards are met for students and staff
  • Interact professionally with individuals receiving support, families, coworkers, and community members to further the FCBDD mission
  • Complete all assigned training and comply with policies, procedures, and safety rules

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Required certification from DODD/ODE
  • First Aid and CPR certifications
  • Ability to implement board-approved behavior support techniques
  • Current, valid Ohio Driver's License with a driving record acceptable to agency insurance carrier
  • Maintain personal vehicle insurance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain ODE Van Driver certification
  • Ability to accurately, efficiently, and effectively use technology to assist students with communication, training, and certification processes
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and moving students safely
  • Ability to tolerate up to one hour in a therapy pool with temperatures of 92-94°F (doctor’s release required)

CPR certification (Required) First Aid Certification (Required) Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD)/Ohio Department of Education (ODE) certification (Required) ODE Van Driver certification (Required)
