This role is responsible for the development and implementation of educational programs for K-8 children, managing staff and volunteers, and ensuring compliance with licensing regulations for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement weekly lesson plans for K-8 children, incorporating Delaware Common Core Standards and DE Stars requirements
- Supervise and motivate part-time staff, volunteers, and youth
- Communicate effectively with the school community, parents, and children
- Understand, interpret, and implement organizational policies, goals, and procedures
- Assess school community needs and implement programs, assisting in marketing and recruitment for Extended Care and Summer Fun Club programs
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and promote programming for youth through challenging curriculum including homework support, experiential learning, and recreation
- Complete required administrative paperwork and maintain accurate records, including staff and children’s files, enrollment packets, and licensing paperwork
- Assure program areas, equipment, and supplies are maintained in a safe and attractive manner, including inventory and purchasing
- Complete approved trainings to meet State of Delaware professional development OCCL/STARS requirements
Requirements
- Must be at least twenty (20) years of age
- Ability to pass an FBI clearance, State of Delaware Criminal History Background Check, National and State Sexual Abuse Registry check, and National and State Child Abuse Registry Check per Delacare regulations
- Demonstrated ability in planning and implementing weekly lesson plans that incorporate identified goals and objectives for children in grades K-8, following the Delaware Common Core Standards and DE Stars requirements.
- Working knowledge of Delaware STARS program and Office of Child Care Licensing rules and regulations
- Demonstrated ability in supervising and motivating part-time staff, volunteers and youth
- Demonstrated ability in successful communication with the school community, parents and the children
Qualifications
- 12 College credits related to the needs of the school-age children served OR 60 college credits including 12 college credits related to the needs of the school-age children served OR Bachelor degree with 12 college credits related to the needs of the school-age children experience
- Three (3) years’ experience working with children school-age or younger in a group setting with Educational Option A; Two (2) years’ experience with Education Option B; 3 months supervised student teaching or twelve (12) months experience with Option C.
