About This Role

This role involves conducting classroom and on-the-job training for E911 Communications staff, focusing on emergency aid request calls. Responsibilities include assisting with curriculum development, providing instruction, and serving in a lead capacity during shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct classroom and on-the-job training for E911 Communications Officer I staff, monitoring calls for policy compliance and tracking trainee progress through evaluation reports.
  • Act as an on-the-job training officer for E911 Communications Officer I & II roles, assessing trainee progress and ensuring adherence to policies.
  • Instruct and supervise trainees in answering 911 emergency and non-emergency calls, determining call nature, assigning priority, and entering information into the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System.
  • Provide lifesaving and pre-arrival instructions for emergency medical situations and maintain availability while units are enroute.
  • Dispatch appropriate emergency agencies, coordinate multi-unit/multi-jurisdictional responses, and maintain communication with response units.
  • Utilize computer systems to enter and retrieve data, including information from GCIC and NCIC, for law enforcement personnel.
  • Ensure trainee compliance with applicable rules and regulations of the FCC, GCIC, and NCIC.
  • Assist the E911 Supervisor by monitoring daily operations of the Emergency Communications Center and reporting equipment failures or issues.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 years of Public Safety Emergency Dispatch experience with 1 year of lead experience OR 2 years as Communications Officer II with 1 year lead experience
  • Ability to type at a speed of not less than 25 net words per minute
  • US Citizen and at least 18 years of age
  • No felony convictions or pattern of misdemeanors indicating disregard for the law
  • Agreement to successfully pass background investigation, skills assessment, psychological evaluation, physical/drug screening, and polygraph

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of Public Safety Emergency Dispatch experience, including 1 year of lead experience; or 2 years as a Communications Officer II with all radio disciplines released and 1 year of lead experience.
