About This Role

This role provides scheduled and unscheduled medical transportation services, ensuring safe passenger movement and monitoring to and from various facilities. The Driver will maintain vehicle readiness, adhere to company policies, and interact professionally with passengers and medical staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide scheduled and unscheduled medical transportation services and deliver the passenger to the appropriate location
  • Respond to hospitals, nursing homes and other locations to provide medical transportation services
  • Provide safe medical team and/or passenger movement from/to wheelchair/stretcher at home, hospitals, nursing homes and other facilities
  • Provide passenger safety monitoring, enroute to destination and during transportation to, from and/or between facilities
  • Ensure that vehicle and all equipment is ready for use at the beginning of each shift and after every call
  • Maintain appropriate communications with company dispatch, medical control and other agencies via radio, data link, pager or cell phone
  • Appropriately and safely deliver the passenger to the appropriate medical facility
  • Complete and sign all appropriate documentation for every response and transport
  • Obtain complete medical histories and billing information for all passengers and/or cargo transported
  • Maintain security and privacy of all company and passenger information at all times in accordance HIPPA and all other local, state and federal regulations

Requirements

  • High degree of personal integrity and responsibility
  • Currently licensed, certified or registered by the appropriate state agencies
  • Currently certified in CPR by the AHA or other appropriate organization
  • Currently certified in First Aid by the ARC or other appropriate organization
  • Must become certified as an Emergency Medical Technician within one year of hire
  • Currently licensed with the appropriate level of state motor vehicle operator’s license
  • Clean driving record as approved by company vehicle liability insurer
  • Successfully complete a CEVO ambulance driver safety classroom and practical course
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, using good judgment
  • Ability to work efficiently and interact in a constructive and professional manner with other employees, public safety personnel and medical staff
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with passengers, customers, clients, family members, bystanders, and the general public
  • Demonstrate a level of skill and ability consistent with the provision of high-quality passenger care
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical
  • Ability to lift and maneuver 150 pounds without difficulty
  • Ability to lift and maneuver 150 pounds up and down two flights of stairs without difficulty
