Driver

About This Role

This role involves safely transporting residents to their activities and appointments. The Driver is responsible for maintaining the vehicle, ensuring resident safety and comfort, and coordinating with the Executive Director and Program and Outreach Director.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily safety checks of the vehicle
• Report vehicle, routing, or scheduling problems to the Executive Director
• Report observed or encountered problems during transport to the Program and Outreach Director
• Safely assist and transport participants
• Handle participant’s personal belongings and family communications responsibly
• Maintain good rapport with family caregivers and participants
• Perform daily cleaning of the vehicle interior
• Conduct daily fuel-ups and weekly fluid checks of the vehicle
• Assist with emergency evacuation of participants if necessary
• Coordinate driver emergencies in route with emergency assistance
• Demonstrate patience and tact during contact with residents
• Work independently and remain calm in case of emergency

Requirements

• Currently valid driver's license as required by the State
• "No point" driving record verified by the Department of Motor Vehicles
• Fluency in English
• Pre-employment health evaluation

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Prior experience in transportation of the elderly and or physically/mentally challenged persons preferred

Nice to Have

• Prior experience in transportation of the elderly and or physically/mentally challenged persons
• Knowledge of Spanish
• Knowledge and experience in Assisted Living industry and Dementia care
