This live-in position oversees residents in a college dormitory, assists in developing and implementing residential activities, and provides operational support to various student services areas.
Responsibilities
- Maintain Dorm Manager office hours set by the supervisor
- Act as a positive role model and enforce rules for student conduct and facility care
- Assist in training and mentoring new Resident Assistants (RA) and with RA training program
- Develop a semester dorm activity schedule and coordinate communication of events
- Coordinate 1-2 larger dormitory-specific events per semester
- Create and submit an activity schedule for the semester at least 2 weeks before start
- Manage the budget for activities and communicate/market each activity
- Supervise, direct, develop, mentor, select, train, and evaluate 2-3 Resident Assistants
- Schedule weekly meetings with RA, providing feedback to the Director of Housing
- Manage all room changes, check in/out students, and inspect for damage
- Maintain Rooming Roster and all housing reports with 100% accuracy
- Maintain confidentiality on all records, reports, and incidents investigated by housing department
- Conduct regular mandatory building meetings and inspections for appearance, operation, safety, and security
- Assist with all safety drills, and room and drug inspections
- Assist with dorm lock-outs and attend weekly manager meetings
- Participate in on-call rotation for campus dormitories and follow up on student concerns
- Identify and refer students to college services (Student Life, Counselor, Health Services, Tutoring)
- Process and distribute dorm student packages and mail
- Comply with all College policies and procedures
- Act in a supportive role to Director of Housing, Director of Student Life, Student Life Counselor, Student Accessibility Coordinator, and Executive Director of Student Services
- Assist with day-to-day student service operations, including transportation, dispensing over-the-counter medicine, student life events, food service group management, and student pantry oversight
- Assist with proctoring tests for the ADA office, filing for all areas, and general office management
- Assist with the oversight of all student retention needs
- Conduct regular (bi-weekly) grade checks for all dorm residents and manage their retention needs
