Director of Nursing (RN)

About This Role

Lead, plan, and direct the nursing department at a skilled nursing facility, ensuring compliance, clinical excellence, and a positive nursing culture. Collaborates with the Administrator and Medical Director to achieve these goals.

Responsibilities

• Lead, plan, and direct nursing services in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
• Maintain survey readiness and participate in state and federal surveys
• Ensure appropriate staffing levels for RNs, LPNs, and CNAs across all shifts
• Oversee nursing schedules, assignments, and delegation of responsibilities
• Review nursing documentation for accuracy, completeness, and resident-centered care
• Monitor medication administration and treatment compliance
• Partner with the MDS/Care Plan team to ensure timely and accurate assessments
• Encourage resident and family involvement in care planning
• Support ongoing education, in-services, and competency development
• Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and professional growth

Requirements

• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 3 years of nursing leadership or supervisory experience
• Current CPR certification
• Strong knowledge of long-term care regulations and survey processes
• Ability to lead with professionalism, fairness, and consistency

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of nursing leadership or supervisory experience

Nice to Have

• Prior DON or ADON experience in a skilled nursing environment
• Experience with QAPI and survey recovery
