Director of Nursing - Med Surg

About This Role

Lead and manage patient care services for Medical-Surgical nursing units on a 24-hour basis at St. Dominic Hospital. Oversee staffing, budget, and ensure adherence to organizational and regulatory policies while empowering nursing staff.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate patient care services of one or more nursing units on a 24-hour basis
• Ensure physicians' orders are followed and patient conditions are accurately reported
• Ensure patient care is administered according to organization and regulatory policies by all personnel
• Manage staffing and budget for the nursing unit
• Utilize advanced clinical knowledge to develop and maintain a delivery system for individualized patient care
• Provide leadership in developing and maintaining instructional materials for patients and families
• Monitor and coordinate the effective use, maintenance, and repair of equipment and resources
• Maintain own clinical expertise and ensure staff competency for adult and geriatric patient care
• Provide ongoing assessments of the patient care delivery system and evaluate unit staffing needs
• Coordinate and manage high quality health care services that recognize individual patient rights

Requirements

• 2 years clinical experience as a Registered Nurse
• Bachelors of Science in Nursing
• BLS Certification
• RN license
