This Director of Communications will lead the development and execution of communications strategies for a national membership association, ensuring brand amplification, messaging consistency, and positive reputation. This role involves overseeing media strategies, managing communications teams, and working to expand the organization's reach.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate an annual communications plan across target audiences
- Oversee media strategies and tactics to proactively position and promote the organization as an industry leader
- Ensure consistent use of the organization's brand and messaging across all communications
- Provide final review and editorial oversight for all public-facing communications
- Oversee the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral
- Manage budgets for communications and corporate activation campaigns
- Manage the organization's websites and social platforms, ensuring messaging and brand alignment
- Ensure SEO and ADA/WCAG compliance for digital assets
- Direct and manage communications team (pr/media relations, social media, content creation, editorial oversight, graphic design, marketing and online tools)
- Oversee the generation of content that engages audience segments and leads to measurable reach and impact
Requirements
- 15+ years of related experience or equivalent
- 10+ years of management experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills
- Strong knowledge of AP style
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong understanding of SEO, WCAG, and UX/UI
- Understanding of Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 15 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience and 10 years of management experience

- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
- Knowledge of Word Press
- Knowledge of Kentico 13
- Knowledge of marketing automation/email marketing platforms
- Knowledge of association environment
