Director of Building and Grounds

About This Role

This role involves managing the building and grounds of a senior living community, including hands-on maintenance, managing a team, and overseeing budgets within the 'Right Values' philosophy.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on maintenance and repair work and direct maintenance technicians
• Effectively manage and conduct service and maintenance requests from residents
• Maintain landscaping and overall look of the community, keeping building interior and exterior in good repair
• Conduct, schedule, and/or direct ongoing and preventive maintenance programs (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.)
• Schedule repairs and routine maintenance of all institutional equipment, appliances, and vehicles
• Schedule and conduct work or supervise contractors for apartment turnovers with rapid turnaround
• Monitor and manage the department budget
• Manage, direct, and supervise all department staff, including housekeeping/laundry associates
• Enforce compliance with all safety rules and regulations

Requirements

• Knowledge of safety regulations, state/federal codes, and safe work practices
• Knowledge of budget development and fiscal management
• Knowledge of maintenance trades
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents, co-workers, and families
• Ability to learn new technologies
• Be on time and reliable

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience supervising or training staff; experience in plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, painting, and preventative maintenance preferred.
