As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at Happy Noises LLC, you will provide hands-on support to autistic individuals and those with intellectual and developmental disabilities, primarily adults, enabling them to live independent and self-directed lives in their homes and communities. You will implement person-centered practices, ensure health and safety, and assist individuals in achieving their personal goals through holistic support across all areas of care.
Responsibilities
- Provide assistance in daily living activities such as cooking, hygiene, dressing, and maintaining personal routines in home and community environments
- Facilitate engagement in community activities, transportation, social interactions, and employment-related goals
- Ensure the health and safety of individuals, following medical and behavioral protocols and monitoring for changes in well-being
- Report concerns promptly and adhere to ODP-mandated practices for recognizing, preventing, and reporting suspected abuse, neglect, and incidents
- Support the implementation of behavioral and emotional support strategies outlined in an Individual Support Plan (ISP)
- Apply safe and appropriate behavior support techniques as required by ODP, promote positive relationships and self-advocacy
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation including daily service notes, incident reports, medication-related logs, and progress tracking records
- Collaborate with therapists, Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), supervisors, and family members to implement growth-oriented strategies and share observations
- Provide mobility assistance, physical prompting, and respond to behavioral escalations using trained techniques as physically able
Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain PA Criminal History, Child Abuse, and FBI Fingerprint Clearances
- Compliance with ODP provider qualification standards
- Ability to complete and maintain all ODP and Happy Noises required trainings
- Physical ability to safely support autistic adults, including mobility assistance, physical prompting, and responding to behavioral escalations
- At least 18 years of age
- Valid driver's license for transporting individuals
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to follow individualized plans and support strategies
- Reliability, accountability, and professionalism
- Patience, compassion, and trauma-informed support
- Basic documentation and technology skills
- Problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, Special Education, Counseling, Social Work, or a related degree, OR a NADD Competency Based Clinical/Dual Diagnosis/Direct-Support Professional Certification, OR Registered Behavior Technician, OR Certified Nursing Assistant, OR Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst.
- Three (3) years direct experience working with individuals with autism and/or intellectual disability.
