As a Direct Service Professional, you will support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in various settings to help them build life skills, connect with communities, and achieve personal goals. Every day provides an opportunity to positively impact the lives of residents.
Responsibilities
- Empower daily living by assisting with cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, health maintenance, and medication self-administration
- Foster independence by teaching social skills, promoting community involvement, and supporting problem-solving
- Provide input and implement Individual Support Plans (ISP) and Behavior Support Plans (BSP)
- Ensure safety and well-being by following care plans, medical instructions, and dietary needs
- Report environmental risks or barriers and safeguard individuals and possessions
- Mentor and serve as a role model by demonstrating positive behaviors and coaching through challenges
- Prepare accurate documentation including progress, behavior tracking, incident reports, and communication logs
- Provide safe transportation for individuals to appointments, activities, and events
- Collaborate with teammates, supervisors, and families to optimize support
- Actively participate in improving service quality and agency operations
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Georgia Driver’s License with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted and help individuals with mobility needs
- Ability to perform regular bending, squatting, standing, and moving
- Strong communication skills
- Basic computer literacy
- Ability to manage conflict effectively
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
Nice to Have
- 6+ months of experience with individuals who have intellectual or developmental disabilities
- Familiarity with medication administration, behavioral support, or person-centered planning
