Dietary Worker

About This Role

Perform a variety of food service duties, including food preparation, sanitation, and equipment handling, to maintain orderliness and ensure safety and hygiene standards in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of Food Service duties as assigned with responsibility to maintain orderliness and sanitation
• Properly handle food using established techniques, ensuring safety and sanitation
• Notify Supervisor or other Dietary Worker as necessary for repairs or problems and maintain standards and follow procedures
• Transport food and/or equipment as needed
• Prepare salad plates, special requests, and sandwiches as a Salad Maker
• Prepare and portion desserts as a Dessert Maker
• Prepare enteral feedings for patients and label containers as a Tube Feeder
• Receive and carry out instructions for special functions, obtaining and preparing food items
• Obtain and set up bulk food trucks for evening nourishment delivery to patient care areas
• Heat food plates in 3-M ovens and test heating elements as an Oven Worker
• Wash, rinse, and sanitize pots, pans, utensils, and equipment in Pot Washing areas
• Remove spoiled trays, pre-soak dishes, load/unload dishwashers, and clean dish machines as a Dish Room Worker
• Collect garbage, wash/rinse bins, and reline trash cans as a Garbage Worker
• Set up cafeteria serving areas, portion and serve food, and clean tables as a Cafeteria Worker
• Set up central tray line stations with proper food items and complete trays per menu requirements
• Check trays for accuracy, heat main entree plates, deliver trays, and refill water pitchers as a Pantry Worker
• Sweep and mop floors in the main Kitchen, walk-in refrigerators, and freezers as a Floor Worker
• Transport food delivery trucks to patient care Units via elevator and return soiled tray trucks to the dish room
• Store food and non-food items, fill requisitions, and maintain sanitary conditions of storage areas as a Storeroom Worker
• Complete breakfast trays for hemodialysis, check accuracy, and deliver to appropriate areas as a Tray Passer

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, and follow instructions in English

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred

• Previous experience in Food Services
• Previous Customer Service experience
