Dietary Aide

About This Role

This role involves reviewing, preparing, and serving meals according to planned menus and special diet orders, while ensuring compliance with sanitary regulations and maintaining cleanliness in food service areas. The Dietary Aide is responsible for providing personalized and professional service to residents in a skilled nursing facility.

Responsibilities

• Review, prepare, and serve meals in accordance with planned menus, standardized recipes, and special diet orders
• Prepare and serve residents' nutritional bedtime snacks and substitute foods for residents who refuse foods served
• Ensure food is prepared in accordance with sanitary regulations
• Maintain the department in a clean and safe manner by assuring necessary equipment and supplies are maintained
• Ensure the facility’s standards on Infection Control Precautions are followed when performing daily tasks
• Perform dishwashing and cleaning procedures to ensure utensils are readily available for the next meal
• Prepare and deliver snacks as instructed, and deliver food carts and trays to designated areas
• Serve food and drinks in the dining room as instructed
• Sweep and mop floors in the kitchen and dish room as instructed by the supervisor

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
• Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm to handle residents
• Ability to seek out new methods and principles and incorporate them into existing food practices
• Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace
