Serve as a Deputy Sheriff for the County of Imperial, performing law enforcement duties to safeguard citizens, respond to incidents, and enforce state and federal laws. This is an entry-level position that may involve patrol, bailiff, transportation, or investigation duties.
Responsibilities
- Perform law enforcement and related services to safeguard lives, property, and constitutional rights of citizens in the County
- Respond to crime and accident scenes, emergency situations, and other requests for assistance
- Detect, apprehend, and arrest criminals
- Enforce State and Federal laws and County ordinances
- Perform a variety of specialized duties as assigned
- Participate in specialized programs such as the Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) and Imperial County Sheriff’s Underwater Recovery Team (ICSURT)
- Patrol by vessel and motor vehicle to assure safe and responsible utilization of waterways (for Safety Boating Unit incumbents)
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of a California P.O.S.T. Basic Law Enforcement Academy or current California POST Requalification Certificate
- Valid California Driver’s License
- Valid First Aid/CPR certificate
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED and successful completion of a California P.O.S.T. Basic Law Enforcement Academy
- Entry level class in the Deputy Sheriff series
