Serve as a Deputy with the Lexington County Sheriff's Department, ensuring the timely and efficient completion of civil processes, criminal warrants, and court security duties. Maintain a safe environment within the Judicial Center and enforce all applicable laws.
Responsibilities
- Enforce all local, federal, and state laws relating to public safety and welfare
- Provide security during court proceedings and monitor individuals for disruptive behavior
- Maintain security and integrity of court facilities through inspections and monitoring grounds
- Monitor court entrances, conduct screenings using security equipment, and confiscate prohibited items
- Detain or arrest individuals as provided by South Carolina Law and process them accordingly
- Interact with courthouse visitors, direct individuals, respond to inquiries, and investigate complaints
- Monitor and control inmates receiving treatment at medical facilities, maintaining constant surveillance
- Transport inmates from the detention center to/from the courthouse
- Execute psychiatric orders and transports
- Review, execute, and facilitate the processing of various civil paperwork
- Investigate, track, and execute criminal warrants
- Serve criminal warrants, civil process papers, and other court documents
- Prepare various documents including incident reports, accident reports, and investigative reports
- Attend periodic training sessions and maintain proficiency in firearms use
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must be 21 years old, or within 3 months of turning 21 years old to apply.
- Must be a United States citizen.
- Must be a South Carolina resident, or will move to SC upon hire.
- Certified Class 1-LE from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, or Certified law enforcement from another state, or Military Police experience, or 3 years or more military experience in any job duty, or Associate's degree or higher.
