Deputy Chief of Engineering Support

About This Role

This role involves managing Capital Contracts for the NYC Department of Environmental Protection's Job Order Contract Program, overseeing construction projects, and ensuring compliance with engineering standards. The Deputy Chief will lead technical project management, coordinate capital works, and represent the division at project review meetings.

Responsibilities

• Manage Capital Contracts for JOC's and BWS programs
• Perform complex work in planning, coordinating, and overseeing capital construction, repairs, and upgrades to assets
• Serve as Project Manager responsible for gathering information for estimating, researching construction aspects, and project development
• Manages Contracts, directs technical project management operations, including project planning, budget and scope development, and design management
• Serve as team leader on Job Order Contracting projects, including scope preparation, inspections, and management reports
• Complete and/or coordinate research, drawings, and specifications with a focus on preparing construction bid documents for small projects
• Represent the Division and Directorate at project review meetings and serve on related committees
• Coordinate and inspect construction and installations performed by regional workforce

Requirements

• A valid New York State License as a Professional Engineer
• Six (6) years of full-time satisfactory experience in chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, or plan examining work, at least two (2) years of which must have been in an executive, managerial, or administrative capacity
• Proficient with the contracting process/procedure
• Proficient with eGordian computer program
• Licensed and able to drive a motor vehicle

Qualifications

• Six (6) years of full-time satisfactory experience in chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, or plan examining work, at least two (2) years of which must have been in an executive, managerial, or administrative capacity.
