About This Role

This role involves assisting dentists during patient appointments, maintaining clean rooms, and performing basic dental procedures like cleanings and x-rays. The Dental Assistant will also be responsible for maintaining complex client records confidentially and working with patients of all ages.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain exemplary customer service skills with patients, vendors and co-workers
  • Take x-ray(s) as authorized and prescribed by dentist(s) if licensed
  • Take impressions, pours and trims models, and performs other laboratory procedures as directed by dentist(s)
  • Present treatment plan to patient at chairside
  • Sterilize instruments according to SBNC policies and procedures
  • Assist dentist at chairside with a variety of procedures
  • Provide patient-centered individual counseling and education materials
  • Verify patient eligibility, address, and phone number with each visit
  • Prepare and maintain dental instruments, supplies, and equipment
  • Clean and stock exam rooms before clinic, after each patient, and at the end of each clinic session
  • Maintain records of spore and Dosimeter monitoring
  • Perform inventory control and management
  • Take accurate notes and records in patient’s electronic dental record, as dictated by dentist(s)

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • California Dental Board-approved course in the Dental Practice Act (within 1 year of employment)
  • California Dental Board-approved course in infection control (within 1 year of employment)
  • Basic life support course (within 1 year of employment)
  • X-Ray certification
  • Ability to learn and use electronic dental records (EDR) system

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six months of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to speak Spanish
