Dental Assistant

About This Role

The Dental Assistant will perform general clinic administrative work and maintenance, and complete lab work under the direction of the Dentist. They will primarily prepare examination rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary equipment is ready for appointments.

Responsibilities

• Assist the dentist during procedures (e.g., fillings, extractions, cleanings)
• Hand instruments and materials to the dentist
• Use suction devices to keep the patient's mouth dry and clear
• Prepare patients for treatment (e.g., draping, comforting, explaining procedures)
• Take and develop dental X-rays
• Take impressions of patients' teeth
• Apply topical anesthetics or fluoride under supervision (varies by region)
• Sterilize instruments and clean treatment rooms
• Disinfect surfaces to maintain a hygienic work environment
• Follow standard infection control protocols
• Pour and trim dental impressions
• Make temporary crowns or dentures
• Polish crowns or removable appliances before placement
