The Dental Assistant I or II will support the UF College of Dentistry's mission by assisting student dentists in providing patient care. This role involves maintaining clinic operations, ensuring compliance with infection prevention standards, and managing clinical supplies, all within a "Patient Centered & Student Friendly" environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist clinic staff with maintaining optimal working order of clinic equipment
- Interact effectively with Dental Maintenance for daily clinic readiness by student dentists
- Support daily surveillance of clinics to ensure compliance with infection prevention standards and correct deficiencies
- Help maintain daily attendance records of team students and perform as information resource at emergency rally point
- Assist with student orientation into the clinical curriculum; assess skills for infection prevention and general clinic safety
- Provide four-hand dentistry support to students during clinic sessions
- Provide clinical general dentistry chairside four-hand and six-hand assisting for student dentists
- Maintain optimal clinic infection control standards
- Assist with management of inventory of clinical supplies for the assigned Clinical Care Group
- Proctor Clinical Examinations (Mock Board Examinations) two times per year
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of appropriate experience (for Dental Assistant I)
- Three years of relevant experience (for Dental Assistant II)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Dental Assistant I requires one year of appropriate experience; Dental Assistant II requires three years of relevant experience.
Nice to Have
- Certified Dental Assistant (Dental Assisting National Board CDA)
- Dental Radiology certificate/permit
- Completion of formal training with a dental assisting program
- Experience handling general office equipment
- Information technology skills operating a computer, and experience with Windows, and Microsoft Office
- Two years of Multi-practitioner Dental Practice experience
