Data Strategy and Operations Director

About This Role

The Data Strategy and Operations Director will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive, enterprise-wide data strategy, overseeing governance, quality, privacy compliance, analytics capabilities, and modern data architecture. This role collaborates with business and technology leaders to drive value through data, build high-performing teams, and optimize operations.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute a comprehensive data strategy aligned with organizational objectives.
• Lead cross-functional data initiatives, partnering with business and technology leaders to drive value through data.
• Develop a roadmap for data capabilities, including governance, analytics, architecture, and tooling.
• Establish and oversee data governance frameworks, policies, and standards.
• Champion data quality initiatives and drive the adoption of data stewardship across departments.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and internal policies.
• Build and lead a high-performing data operations team responsible for metadata management, data cataloging, lineage, and MDM (Master Data Management).
• Oversee the development and management of KPIs to monitor data usage, health, and integrity.
• Drive operational efficiency through process automation, data integration, and tooling improvements.
• Collaborate with IT and engineering teams to define and maintain scalable data infrastructure and architecture.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in data management, analytics, or data operations
• 3-5 years in a leadership role
• Proven experience leading enterprise data strategy initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in data management, analytics, or data operations, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role.

Nice to Have

• CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) certification
• DGSP (Data Governance & Stewardship Professional) certification
• Experience in a regulated industry (e.g., Insurance)
