Custodian for Academic and Residential Buildings

About This Role

Serve as a full-time, second-shift Custodian for Academic and Residential Buildings at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, performing a variety of custodial duties to maintain a clean and safe environment.

Responsibilities

• Clean assigned facility areas including floors, windows, walls, and restrooms
• Operate cleaning equipment and work with cleaning chemicals
• Assemble and move furniture and equipment
• Communicate with staff to maintain a clean and safe environment
• Supervise student workers
• Utilize basic equipment and supplies to remove waste and recyclables
• Document and report repairs, violations, and pest control needs
• Maintain organization of supply areas and equipment, document inventory, and request supplies
• Monitor and secure facility interior and exterior entrances and report issues
• Maintain clean and clear walkways, free of debris, litter, snow, and ice

Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without mechanical assistance
• Ability to perform repetitive motion tasks (bending, twisting, etc.)
• Ability to use a shovel for snow removal in front of buildings
• Ability to read work instructions and schedules, warning labels and instructions for equipment operation

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma
• No experience required, training provided

Nice to Have

• Basic knowledge of custodial duties
• Excellent communication skills
• Basic computer skills
