About This Role

Assist pediatric patients with daily living activities and care plans under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Communicate with and support the healthcare team, patients, and families while maintaining professional ethical standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with patients’ activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, toileting/hygiene, and assisting with mobility and transport
  • Perform technical duties as directed by RN such as phlebotomy, vital signs, point of care testing, EKGs, and Foley catheter care specific to the population served
  • Document technical duties and patient status appropriately
  • Identify and communicate changes in patient’s status to RN and respond appropriately
  • Reinforce education of patient and family/responsible party regarding individual care needs and safety issues
  • Participate in Cooper patient satisfaction initiatives, goals, and performance improvement activities
  • Assist in the orientation of new hires
  • Complete annual unit-specific competencies by specified due date
  • Attend Staff Meetings when available for document review of staff meeting minutes
  • Assist in admission, transfers and discharges of patients to and from the unit

Requirements

  • High School/GED
  • Successful completion of an unlicensed health care provider/technician program OR completed at least one fundamental nursing course in an accredited Nursing Program OR 1 year or more patient care experience in a similar role
  • AHA Basic Life Support certification

Qualifications

  • High School/GED required
  • 0-2 years experience required, or 1 year or more patient care experience in a similar role
