About This Role

This role will provide crisis intervention, assessments, therapy, and referral services for adults presenting to the Crisis Center, which includes a Brief Intervention Clinic and a Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU). The position aims to prevent or resolve mental health or substance-related crises and divert individuals from jail, emergency departments, and inpatient psychiatric hospital settings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide crisis intervention, assessments, therapy, and referral services for adults presenting to the Crisis Center
  • Conduct activities in a variety of settings, including face-to-face contact or telehealth
  • Prevent or resolve mental health or substance-related crises
  • Divert individuals from jail, emergency departments, and inpatient psychiatric hospital settings to appropriate least restrictive treatment settings

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or Counseling Psychology
  • Certification or Licensure in the State of Michigan as a Limited Licensed Master Social Worker, professional counselor, marriage and family therapist, or psychologist, OR eligibility for a limited license and obtainment within three (3) months of hire
  • Thorough working knowledge of the practices and principles of psychological, emotional, and sociological assessment and diagnosis
  • Thorough working knowledge of professional ethics and standards of practice
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for job related use
  • Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and rationally
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, email, database management, electronic health record, and data entry skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in stressful situations
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and capabilities of bridging language/cultural barriers within diverse communities

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or Counseling Psychology

Nice to Have

  • Licensed Master Social Worker
  • Lived experiences with mental illness/developmental disabilities/substance use disorders
