Cost Report Auditor Intern

About This Role

This internship provides practical experience in reviewing Medicare cost reports for compliance with government requirements, ensuring accurate financial and statistical data for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The role aims to support the efficient and cost-effective operation of the US Tax funded Medicare program.

Responsibilities

• Shadow team members to observe day-to-day accountabilities and gain insights into industry practices, processes, and techniques
• Review Medicare cost reports to determine if the report is deemed acceptable based on the criteria provided
• Review cost reports to determine appropriate interim payments due to the provider based on the criteria
• Review cost reports to determine final payment due to/from the provider based on the criteria

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in higher education or recent graduate
• Experience with Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in higher education or recent graduate in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or related field.

Nice to Have

• Interest in healthcare and understanding Medicare and government-funded programs
