Cost Estimator

About This Role

The Cost Estimator is responsible for providing independent construction cost control functions for various construction projects, including estimates, value analysis, and feasibility studies. This role involves performing these functions on multiple projects simultaneously while identifying value-add opportunities for clients.

Responsibilities

• Prepare construction-related cost estimates, cost plans, and cost strategies
• Review change orders and conduct valuations of work in progress and bid analyses
• Prepare studies and plans on value engineering, life cycle costing, and sustainable practices
• Gather proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents to prepare estimates
• Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying project documents
• Compute costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements
• Resolve discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
• Present prepared estimates by assembling numerical and descriptive information
• Maintain cost database by entering and backing up data

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Quantity Surveying or related field
• Recent experience and specialty in electrical and mechanical cost strategies
• Cost control experience in the commercial/institutional/Industrial sector concentrating on vertical construction
• Experience with conceptual and detailed measurement / pricing
• Experience in CMGC / GCCM process
• Experience with estimating software systems, onscreen takeoff software and BIM

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Quantity Surveying or related field
• Entry level with recent experience and specialty in electrical and mechanical cost strategies, commercial/institutional/Industrial sector, conceptual and detailed measurement/pricing, CMGC/GCCM process, and estimating software.
