Controller, Plant

About This Role

This Controller position is responsible for managing all finance matters for a plant, ensuring financial integrity, adherence to accounting policies, and a robust internal control environment. The role involves leading the finance team, overseeing financial reporting, analysis, and compliance within Magna Exteriors.

Responsibilities

• Support the finance function, ensuring integrity of accounting policies, company financial governance, and the internal control environment
• Implement changes in accounting policies and ensure existing Magna policies are applied
• Review and participate in the preparation of the company’s financial results (monthly/quarterly/annually vs. budget and forecast)
• Responsible for reporting, including journal entry review, monthly reconciliation review, key account analysis, and variance reporting
• Prepare and provide financial reports to support decision-making and assess financial performance (KPI analysis, project expense analysis, cost tracking)
• Provide leadership and direction to the finance department, including goal setting, performance monitoring, communication, and training/development plans
• Review and participate in Tax management, reporting to Corporate Tax Group, Sales/Use tax reporting, Property tax filings, 1099’s and manage relationships with Property Tax consulting firms
• Ensure system of Internal Control, documentation, and reviews are being performed
• Manage and review the Capital Expenditure process, advise on capitalization requirements, and review capital packages
• Liaise with internal and external audit teams during annual and quarterly reviews, including review and preparation of audit schedules
• Review and/or prepare reports required by regulatory agencies
• Manage employees in Accounting, including interviewing, hiring, training, appraising performance, and resolving problems

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years related operational experience within Accounting and Controlling (Accounting experience is a must)
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems
• Inventory control, general and cost accounting knowledge
• Knowledge of SOX mandates and financial reporting requirements
• Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and analytical skills
• Profound knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Advanced knowledge of Excel

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• Minimum 5 years related operational experience within Accounting and Controlling, with at least three years in a supervisory capacity, preferably in manufacturing.
