This role supports Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center's mission by managing preclinical contracts from creation to execution, advising scientific and research leaders, and advancing the legal team's efforts against cancer.
Responsibilities
- Independently manage preclinical contracts from creation to execution
- Draft, review, negotiate, finalize, and amend agreement terms and conditions with minimal direction from MSK legal counsel
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and provide updates as requested
- Maintain and update relevant contract system(s) and databases
- Assist with special projects and other job-related activities as assigned
Requirements
- 2-4 years’ experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating preclinical research contracts, especially Data Transfer Agreements and Materials Transfer Agreements, with substantive experience beyond standard AUTM templates and FDP templates
- Familiarity with Collaborative Research Agreements and Sponsored Research Agreements
- Demonstrated interest in science, preclinical research, and/or healthcare
- Excellent writing and drafting skills with a sharp attention to detail
- Ability to develop, facilitate, and orchestrate effective communication with internal and external stakeholders
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with high volume preclinical contract requests and deadlines
- Enthusiastic about continuous improvement and optimizing workflow
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor, or equivalent professional degree preferred
- 2-4 years’ experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating preclinical research contracts
