Direct concrete construction activities, ensuring projects meet specifications and are completed on schedule, while managing and mentoring a crew of workers.
Responsibilities
- Study specifications to plan construction procedures, staffing, and timelines for concrete trade tasks.
- Order procurement of tools and materials for timely delivery to conform to work schedules.
- Confer with personnel and subcontractors on work procedures, specifications, and coordination to prevent delays.
- Resolve problems within the workforce by conferring with supervisory personnel and subcontractors.
- Resolve concrete construction problems and improve methods by consulting with supervisory, engineering personnel, inspectors, and suppliers.
- Inspect work in progress to ensure workmanship conforms to specifications and crew adherence to schedule.
- Direct workers involved in major maintenance for existing concrete installations.
- Ensure quality of depth, finishes, edges, and surfaces of poured concrete.
- Supervise subgrade work, concrete mixing, and form setting.
- Perform basic forming activities and understand all forming system accessories.
- Oversee proper materials and methods for patching and rubbing walls.
- Properly perform concrete flatwork preparation, forming, placement, curing, and saw cutting.
- Manage all types of site concrete activities including paving, sidewalks, curbs, footings, foundations, and retaining walls.
- Layout footings, piers, walls, stairs, and sidewalks.
- Ensure proper use of all personal protective equipment for the crew.
Requirements
- Ability to direct activities of concrete construction workers
- Knowledge of concrete trade specifications and procedures
- Experience with subgrade work, concrete mixing, and form setting
- Proficiency in concrete flatwork preparation, forming, placement, curing, and saw cutting
- Ability to lead and manage employees, including training, performance appraisal, and problem resolution
