Manage construction projects for the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission, overseeing administration, inspection, and material testing to ensure compliance, quality, and timely completion within budget. This role involves coordination with various departments and external contractors.
Responsibilities
- Assist Construction Engineer with management of Construction Administration, Construction Inspection, and Material Testing/Quality Control services on construction projects
- Ensure contract specification compliance, consistent quality, on-schedule delivery, and budget adherence for each contract
- Provide reports and communication to the Construction Engineer about issues and activities related to construction projects
- Monitor construction progress, resolve construction related problems, and coordinate/review construction plans and specifications
- Review consulting engineer's construction administration and inspection cost estimates
- Assist with addressing questions during bidding process and coordinating addendums
- Attend pre-construction meetings and review/facilitate Change Orders processing
- Review pay requests by contractors, consultants, and testing laboratories
- Assist in monitoring performance of contractors, construction administration/inspection firms, and material testing/quality control firms
- Review construction schedules, attend progress meetings, and conduct final inspections
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related curriculum
- Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Ohio
- 7+ years experience as a Licensed Professional Engineer in highway engineering/construction project management
- Strong knowledge of highway engineering, design, and construction techniques/methods
- Thorough knowledge of various soil, asphalt, and concrete material testing
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, and Word
- Valid State of Ohio driver's license
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related curriculum
- Minimum of seven (7) years' experience as a Licensed Professional Engineer serving in a responsible position involving the management of highway engineering and/or highway construction projects as well as personnel
