Compliance Specialist

About This Role

This role supports the organization's import/export operations, compliance, and regulatory risk management. The specialist will work cross-functionally to ensure adherence to U.S. and international trade laws and corporate policies.

Responsibilities

• Support implementation and monitoring of compliance programs
• Conduct legal and regulatory research
• Assist with audits, investigations, and corrective actions
• Draft and maintain compliance policies and training materials
• Support HTS classification, COO determinations, and valuation
• Ensure compliance with CBP, EAR, ITAR, and CTPAT Certification Standards
• Coordinate with brokers and logistics providers
• Maintain statutory import/export records
• Identify compliance risks and gaps
• Track remediation actions
• Support compliance metrics and reporting

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, Business, or related field
• 5+ years compliance, legal, or trade experience
• 5+ years Customs clearance experience- with harmonized tariff schedule (HTS)
• 5+ years Identifying Country of origin experience
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Experience with Forced labor requirements
• Experience with CTPAT
• Intermediate excel and reporting skills
• Cross border compliance
• Business level Spanish
• Business level English

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, Business, or related field
• 5+ years compliance, legal, or trade experience; 5+ years Customs clearance experience with harmonized tariff schedule (HTS); 5+ years identifying Country of origin experience.

Nice to Have

• Automotive or manufacturing experience
• Paralegal certification, law degree or law firm background
• Familiarity with USMCA, IATF 16949
