Community Wellness Specialist

About This Role

The Community Wellness Specialist provides interventions to youth, focusing on developing coping and problem-solving skills to promote safety and attachment within home, school, and community settings. This role emphasizes wellness and building resilience through interventions and connections to community resources.

Responsibilities

• Provide interventions to develop coping and problem-solving skills
• Promote safety and attachment for youth
• Teach transference of skills into home, school, and community
• Maintain youth at home or transition youth to home within child and family team process
• Focus on wellness and building resilience through interventions
• Provide linkages and referrals to appropriate community resources
• Work a non-traditional work schedule, including weekends, holidays, early morning, and/or late evening hours
• Travel and work in the community and in the home environment
• Complete necessary documentation using strong computer and typing skills

Requirements

• High school diploma or AA degree
• One year of direct care experience
• Personal, reliable vehicle
• Valid California driver’s license
• Acceptable driving record
• Proof of auto insurance meeting minimum coverage requirements

Qualifications

• High school diploma or AA degree with one year of direct care experience, OR Bachelor’s degree plus one year of direct care experience preferred.
• 1 year of direct care experience required; two years preferred

Nice to Have

• Two years of direct care experience
• Bachelor’s degree
• Knowledge of behavioral interventions and successful implementation with youth who have had severe behaviors
• Experience in a Residential Facility, Group Home or Probation
• Knowledge of resources in Service Area
