The Commercial Construction Estimator will prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial construction projects, collaborating with project management and company leadership. This role is essential for preconstruction and business development efforts.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for commercial construction projects
- Analyze plans, specifications, and other bid documents
- Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids
- Develop quantity take-offs and pricing for labor, materials, and equipment
- Assist with bid strategy, scope review, and risk evaluation
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits as required
- Maintain estimating databases, historical cost data, and bid records
- Collaborate with project managers during hand off and preconstruction phases
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience as an estimator in commercial construction
- Demonstrated experience using PlanSwift, Buildertrend, Procore, iSqFt
- Experience with AIA contract documents, change orders, and related forms
- Proven bid experience with school boards, government entities, medical facilities, industrial projects, or professional office buildings
- Strong understanding of construction means, methods, and sequencing
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and construction documents
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience as an estimator in commercial construction
Nice to Have
- Experience with public-sector bidding and procurement processes
- Knowledge of Florida construction practices and codes
- Familiarity with value engineering and cost control strategies
