About This Role

Set up and operate CNC Turning, Multi-Axis lathes, and other turning equipment to produce high-precision component parts that meet all quality standards. This role requires the ability to work independently, lead projects, and train others.

Responsibilities

  • Set-up and operate CNC Lathes (2-axis and multi-axis) (e.g., Eurotech, Hardinge)
  • Work with blueprints, operation sheets, and other work instructions to machine quality parts
  • Perform complex set-ups and make necessary adjustments to machinery
  • Obtain tooling, gages, inserts, and equipment, and edit programs as necessary
  • Assist other operators with set-up or production problems and provide training
  • Ensure all manufactured parts comply with quality standards through visual inspections and dimensional verification
  • Replace worn or damaged tooling as necessary
  • Verify and record actual part counts, perform routine equipment maintenance
  • Keep equipment and work area clean, return excess material to staging area
  • Move finished work, enter information into database, and document scrap
  • Notify lead person or supervisor of part shortages or machining problems
  • Pack and wash/preserve parts as needed

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of set-up experience
  • Familiarity with Fanuc and/or Okuma Controls
  • Ability to set and change tools
  • Ability to use standard gauges and inspection techniques
  • Ability to read and write comments, understand operation sheets/blueprints, specifications, and company/customer paperwork
  • Ability to read CNC programs

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent. Technical school training a plus.
  • 3 years of set-up experience minimum required; Five plus years of increasingly diverse experience in a machine shop or CNC machining environment

Nice to Have

  • Technical school training
  • Experience with aerospace products and/or other close tolerance parts
  • Experience with SPC, inspection documentation, and problem solving
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills
