The Clinical Research Coordinator Intern will support a research program focused on health behaviors and psychosocial functioning in adolescents and young adults with congenital heart disease. This role involves contributing to an NIH-funded mobile health intervention trial and other studies, focusing on participant recruitment, data collection, and managing research data.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, consent, and enroll subjects according to ICH/GCP regulations and institutional IRB.
- Ensure subjects meet inclusion/exclusion criteria and alert investigators to safety concerns or protocol deviations.
- Collect and manage research data, including maintaining accurate data collection and processing human specimens.
- Prepare and process human specimens for research studies, including blood, urine, and other samples.
- Complete screening sheets and recruitment logs.
- Create source documents for systematic data collection and record keeping.
- Collaborate, coordinate, and schedule subject study visits with other hospital services and the PI/sub-I.
- Complete Case Report Forms (CRFs) according to sponsor instructions.
- Maintain regulatory binder and documents.
Requirements
- Flexibility to work some evenings/weekends for recruitment and data collection.
- Understanding of medical terminology and clinical research preferred.
- Working knowledge of PCs and word processing and data management software.
- Demonstrated analytical skills with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Goal-oriented and self-directive.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to actively participate as a team player.
Qualifications
- Associates degree, STNA, PCA, LPN, MA or equivalent work-related experience, BA/BS preferred.
- Previous experience in clinical research or a healthcare-related field preferred.
