Serve as a Clinical Nurse Educator specializing in Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Care for adult and pediatric patients at a world-class academic healthcare system, providing direct patient consultation, education, and quality improvement.
Responsibilities
- Provide consultation for patients with impaired skin integrity to develop individualized care plans and attain expected outcomes
- Educate staff and family members during patient consultations
- Provide guidance to staff in implementing protocols for identifying, controlling, or eliminating etiologic factors for skin breakdown
- Provide appropriate education to patients, caregivers, and staff regarding Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Care
- Participate in developing and implementing procedures and protocols based on current evidence and national guidelines
- Assist nursing staff in maintaining current knowledge and competence in wound/skin care
- Participate and collaborate with nursing leadership in quality improvement and evidence-based practice projects/activities
- Engage in professional development activities
- Maintain and submit required activity logs to the supervisor
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Current RN Illinois license
- Minimum three years of nursing practice
- Wound Care Experience
- Knowledge and previous application of adult learning principles
- Demonstrated complex decision-making skills and problem solving ability
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Minimum three years of nursing practice, with wound care experience
Nice to Have
- Master of Science in Nursing
- Certification as Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN)
- Demonstrated leadership skills evidenced by serving as a charge nurse, preceptor or manager
- Previous experience working within multidisciplinary teams or nursing leadership committees
