This role involves managing incoming calls, scheduling patient appointments, and handling administrative tasks to ensure efficient front office operations within an oncology clinic. The position requires strong organizational and customer service skills.
Responsibilities
- Answer all incoming calls, assess needs, and direct to appropriate personnel
- Obtain and communicate messages accurately and timely
- Schedule patient referrals and returning patients in the computer system according to guidelines
- Set up new and referred patients in the system with appropriate documentation and coding
- Cancel/reschedule appointments due to physician schedule changes and notify personnel
- Obtain and enter insurance authorization and referral correspondence into patient charts or EMR
- Collect co-pays, deductibles, and other out-of-pocket amounts at time of visit
- Maintain primary office scheduling template for physician meetings, satellite schedules, rounding, and call coverage
- Arrange for financial counseling for patients as needed
- Cover for other front office functions as requested

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
Nice to Have
- Previous healthcare experience
- Use of electronic medical record systems and electronic scheduling systems
- Basic understanding of medical terminology for tests and surgical procedures
