About This Role

This role assists in managing the activities within the nursing unit, focusing on clerical tasks and direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. The individual will ensure optimal communication within the healthcare team and comply with established competencies and policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist with directing the flow of activities within the nursing unit
• Maintain optimal communication between members of the Health Care Team
• Assist in providing direct patient care in compliance with established competencies, policies/procedures and standards under the supervision of a registered nurse
• Perform direct patient care as assigned, applying good judgment and knowledge of skills required
• Report all pertinent observations and concerns directly to the nurse
• Assist patients with activities of daily living
• Document in the Electronic Medical Record as per policy
• Perform clerical skills including use of computer, copier, fax, phones
• Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality
• Answer call bells according to hospital standards

Requirements

• High school graduate/equivalent
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire
• One (1) year of patient care assistant experience and or clerical experience

Qualifications

• High school graduate/equivalent
• One (1) year of patient care assistant experience and or clerical experience

Nice to Have

• Post high school business or secretarial or computer training
• Medical terminology knowledge
• Notary Public for the State of West Virginia or obtain within 6 months of hire date
