About This Role

Perform a range of clerical and administrative duties for Klickitat County, requiring independent judgment to support office functions, manage records, and interact with the public.

Responsibilities

  • Answer calls, greet the public, and schedule appointments, providing general or specific information within authority.
  • Process various documents and transactions following established instructions and regulations.
  • Set up, maintain, retrieve data from, and purge manual or electronic files.
  • Enter data into electronic or manual records systems, verifying accuracy and compiling reports.
  • Resolve standard problems related to job duties and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Utilize guidelines and regulations to determine eligibility for departmental services.
  • Prepare or edit correspondence, forms, and other documents using office or specialized software.
  • Monitor department budgets, verify revenues and expenses, and assist with budget preparation.
  • Coordinate office operations, tracking projects and timelines.
  • Provide administrative support for department or committees, including preparing agendas and taking minutes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-2 years of related clerical experience including public contact and customer service (for Level I)
  • 2-4 years of progressively responsible clerical and/or bookkeeping experience (for Level II/III)
  • Knowledge and ability to use standard office software programs (email, word processing, spreadsheet, database)
  • Knowledge and ability to operate standard office equipment (personal computer, telephone, facsimile machine, photocopier)

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-2 years of related clerical experience, or 2-4 years of progressively responsible clerical/bookkeeping experience for higher levels. College coursework may substitute for experience.
